Please join us in Chicago at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the American Musicological Society, November 14–17. The OSG session this year will feature three exciting papers from doctoral candidates:
- Instruments as Specimens: How the Photographs of 19th-Century English Instrument Collections Made Organology a Science (Maia Perez, University of Illinois)
- The Plek Machine: A Study of Automation in California’s Guitar Repair Shops (Jon Turner, University of California Berkley)
- Berthelot’s Serpent Tablature: A Blueprint for a Lost Musical Instrument from Colonial Canada (Alexander Belser, McGill University)
The session will take place on Friday, November 15th from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, and will begin with some brief announcements from OSG officers in lieu of a formal business meeting.
